For five seconds, this isn't bad. I'm not sure exactly how you are supposed to even come up with anything good in just five seconds. And I'm not gonna lie, that would get annoying fast in a game! X-D

But for the competition, I think this is pretty decent. Normally I leave long critical reviews on the music and mixing. As well as other things that are relevant. But really, what do I say for a five second loop?

In my best Tom Brokaw voice...

Very Original...

It has a distinct middle eastern sound to it. The instruments you used were awesome, and really mesh well together. They really give that middle eastern timbre you were going for.

I love the shaker. As stupid as it sounds, that is probably my favorite part about the percussion. Although, everything seems perfectly in place and in balance in the percussion. Very tasteful choices all around.

I like the flute sound. Although it sounds different, so I'm not sure it is a flute exactly. Very somber mood to this piece, and the flute really emphasizes that.

I love the guitar as well. Not overdone, yet has a very nice harmony line. It is easy to overdo guitars, especially in a piece like this. But you did really well to keep it all in balance musically, as well as in the mix.

I love how it flows so wonderfully throughout the entire song. Every moment builds upon the last, yet does not take anything away from what was already previously played. This is pretty extraordinary in many ways. Kudos to you on this piece.

5/5 and 9/10 overall, because I think it is great. But is not quite at a 10/10 level yet. I'm not even sure what would make it that good, but it just isn't quite there for me. Maybe a little crescendo and buildup towards the end. That might help it out.

Interesting...

The intro is very intriguing. I love the overall mood it sets for the song. Very tasteful sir, very tasteful indeed.

I love it when the kit kicks in. Very slow and methodical groove you created. And the bells are a VERY nice touch. I love the mix you created. Nothing is too loud, but everything is heard easily. Perfect balance.

I love the fadeout. It is very appropriate for this song. Nicely done there.

Now I do think there is some room for improvement. but this is just my opinion, so take it or leave it as you will.

First, it is to short. Needs to be at least a minute or two longer. Because it is a slower methodical song, it takes longer to get thoughts processed. So you can't really convey an entire story/message in under two minutes. I'd say double it in length.

A chorus or two, and a bridge would really help lengthen it. Plus variations of the section that has the drums and bells in it would be pretty cool.

Also, I think there could be more instruments. Not so much now, but rather if you decided to lengthen it. Because there would be more of an opportunity for this to grow, and become a fuller sound overall.

Also, the one thing I am unsure about is the bass line, or if there really is one. It sounds to me that the strings are the bass line. That you are playing the tonic on the low strings as the bass line. Now it sounds fine as is, but if this ever became longer like I suggested, I would recommend a bass line.

I would say this is more of a loop than an actual song. Perfect length for a good loop, almost two minutes. It also has a very full sound. The one thing I love about it as a loop is how it grow in the beginning and dies out at the end. Something that is really hard to do in such a small time frame.

as a song I'd give it 2/5 and 5/10 overall. But as a loop 5/5 and 9/10 overall. So I'ma give ya a 4/5 and 8/10 overall. Because I hate giving low score to people who obviously work hard on their submissions. :-)

Your right about the whole thing. I layered two sets of strings to take the place of a bassline. It is short and just when it ends it should take of into a new set of ideas or grow. I guess you could say its a loop, but I'd say it's an unfinished song. A bassline would work if some of the string layers where removed. Thanks for the ideas. I really appreciate the feedback. Lot's of things that I was thinking...

Interesting...

Not really sure what to say. It's fast, and in your face. And its happy as fuck.

I kinda feel like I'm listening to a song that went through a blender on a care bears episode. It is so random and kinda jumbled up in thoughts and styles, but is so happy to be its own little thing in the world. Maybe a kind of naive happiness?

I can honestly say I don't know where to begin in reviewing the song itself. X-D

The beats are intense, and really keep the song moving along at a frantic pace. The melodies are so hard to follow because they are so fast. In the beginning not so much, but as the melodies become more complicated and intricate, they become harder to pick out.

The harmonies are nifty sounding. And the effects you used throughout the song are pretty cool.

4/5 and 8/10 overall.

Oh I See How It Is...

Not telling me when you are submitting stuff huh?! *SLAP* Now that I settled that little issue. I shall move onto the song. X-D

Its cool. Very thick and punchy. I think you need to tweak the limiter on your master track. It is causing some phasing issues with the pads and instruments in a few select places. Unless you wanted that effect that is, because if that is the case then leave it.

I think would be a cool loop for a video game of some sort. Maybe a side scrolling shooter. Alien Hominid sorta thing. Except not exactly. Something with a little more serious animation and game play than AH. :-)

Overall as a song, I'd give is a 3/4 and 6/10. Because it is short and doesn't really have many changes. But as a loop I give it 5/5 and 9/10. So I'll give you the high score, just cause I'm cool like that.

ya i was thinking it could be used as a loop too. the song was going to be at least 3 or 4 minutes long but :/ (damn computer) O and if youre talking about when i bring in the SAW, its supposed to stutter a bit at the beginning. kinda like when someone has a hard time starting something but when they do, its beautiful. thats what i was going for there.

I can't Believe i earned a 10 from you! I followed your advice so well I'm starting to sound like you!

And Nope, no tutorials. i just sat at my keyboard pressing chords till i found the ones i liked, put them in order, then arpeggiated them, and copy and pasted for the bass. I even took basslines, moved them up an octave, and made them lead. I figured out that this isn't as hard as i was making it out to be. See? I told you i was a quick learner!

You need to find a song structure you want to follow. Because this is pretty random and off in left field structurally.

I love the sound that starts at 0:03. Very VERY good sound there bud. The ending would be alright, but it starts becoming a bit jumbled and hard to listen to. I think you should clean that section up a bit.

You got a real full sound here though man. I think it could really turn into something badass if you put the time and effort into it.

3/5 and 5/10 overall. I'll wait to pass true judgment when you finish it. :-)

All the instruments go well together, and that is always important. I'm not gonna say all the obvious things that are wrong with it. Length, melodic integrity, etc...because it is only a demo.

I will say I like the beat a lot. Very nifty groove you got going.

I shall wait for something you have been working on a little more to pass true judgment.

I have to say this kinda reminds me of Rig's "Damaged" by the perc and that deep saw in there that I used as a bass. And yes it is kinda wierd at the moment but ill have that fixed by the end of tonight.

I Love It...

Very kickin' beat you have created here. And the overall sound you got is simply awesome.

I love the distortion throughout this loop. Gives it a very distinct flavor and it fit the overall fell very well.

4/5 and 9/10 overall. I'm really enjoying this a lot!
